Dehradun, August 15, 2026: Mount Zion School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with the hoisting of the National Flag by Sri Ashok Dobriyal, Parishad Bakralwala, with great enthusiasm, dignity and patriotic fervour under the inspiring theme “The Voice of India – Now, Then and Tomorrow.” The celebration was a meaningful blend of patriotism, cultural heritage and the aspirations of a progressive India, bringing together the school leadership, teachers, parents and students in a spirit of national pride.
The programme commenced with an invocation and prayer, seeking divine blessings for peace, harmony, wisdom and the continued progress and prosperity of the nation.
The theme of the celebration was brought to life through a thought-provoking presentation by the students of Classes 4 and 5, who reflected upon India’s remarkable journey from its historic struggle for freedom to its achievements in the present and its vision for the future. Their confident presentation emphasised the role of young citizens in shaping a responsible, progressive and resilient nation.
Adding innocence and charm to the celebrations, the Play Group to UKG students presented a delightful dance performance on “Tiranga.” Their vibrant performance beautifully expressed their love and respect for the national flag and was warmly appreciated by the audience.
A significant highlight of the programme was the Hindi play, “तिरंगा हमारी शान,” presented by students of Classes 4 to 6. Through an engaging portrayal, the students highlighted the profound significance of the Tricolour as a symbol of India’s freedom, unity, sacrifice and national identity.
The patriotic spirit continued with an energetic Patriotic Remix Dance by Classes 1 and 2, which showcased the enthusiasm and confidence of the young learners. The cultural presentation was followed by a captivating Garhwali Folk Dance by Classes 4 and 5, celebrating the rich traditions, cultural diversity and vibrant heritage of Uttarakhand.
The cultural segment concluded with a stirring choir performance featuring “Na Jhuka Hai Na Jhukane Denge” and “Follow Me.” The powerful musical presentation created an atmosphere of unity and pride, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards the nation.
The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks, by the Principal Mrs Sonia Paul expressing sincere gratitude to the chief guest Sri Ashok Dobriyal esteemed guests, dedicated teachers, supportive parents and enthusiastic students whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the programme.
The event came to a memorable close with the resounding spirit of “Jai Hind” and “Vande Mataram,” leaving everyone inspired to uphold the values of freedom, unity, integrity and responsible citizenship.
